Short description
The comic strip detective finds his life vastly complicated when Breathless Mahoney makes advances towards him while he is trying to battle Big Boy Caprice's united mob.
What's left behind the scenes
- Dick Van Dyke filmed for only three days before getting injured, coincidentally during the filming of the scene in which his character is killed.
- Comic book enthusiast Warren Beatty wanted to include as many comic characters as possible in the film (just in case the movie didn't get a sequel later on).
- Macaulay Culkin was considered for one of the roles, but he turned down the offer, preferring to film in Chris Columbus' comedy "Home Alone" (1990).
- Finny, one of the bullies, is killed in the garage shootout at the beginning of the film. It was incredibly difficult to do his makeup. In the comics, this character has a normal-sized head, but the size of his face does not exceed the size of an adult's nose. This character had to be filmed using composite shots.
- They considered inviting Macaulay Culkin for one of the roles, but he declined the offer, preferring to film Chris Columbus's comedy 'Home Alone' (1990).
