Short description
A beautiful singer and a battling priest try to reform a Barbary Coast saloon owner in the days before the great earthquake and subsequent fires in 1906.
What's left behind the scenes
- Clark Gable (1901-1960) disliked the final scene with his character—where he breaks under the tension—so much that he insisted on being filmed from behind.
- After signing a contract with MGM, Janet MacDonald's older sister changed her name from Blossom Rock to the pseudonym Mary Blake. This was the same name as MacDonald's character in this film.
- Several scenes of this film were directed by Hollywood veteran D.W. Griffith. However, his name did not appear in the credits.
