Short description
When the incompetent Lieutenant Frank Drebin seeks the ruthless killer of his partner, he stumbles upon an attempt to assassinate Queen Elizabeth II.

- Director David Zucker mentions in the film's commentary that the studio insisted on attracting some Oscar laureate. This was George Kennedy, who actively offered his help, as he regretted not being in the producers' 1980 film “Airplane!”.
- When Jane is cleaning out Frank's refrigerator, she finds a package of Chinese food. The package’s manufacturing date is 1982. This is the year the series “Police Squad!” premiered in the US, which the film is based on.
- Although the film was based on the series, only Leslie Nielsen and Ed Williams (who plays forensic expert Ted) remained from the original cast; however, unlike in the series, Ted is not shown teaching children.
