When Chef Carl Casper suddenly quits his job at a prominent Los Angeles restaurant after refusing to compromise his creative integrity for its controlling owner, he is left to figure out what's next. Finding himself in Miami, he teams up with his ex-wife, his friend and his son to launch a food truck. Taking to the road, Chef Carl goes back to his roots to reignite his passion for the kitchen -- and zest for life and love.

- When Carl and his son are sitting in the movie theater, the sound of repulsors from the film "Iron Man" (2008), directed by Jon Favreau, can be heard.
- Roy Choi agreed to teach Jon Favreau to cook only on the condition that he be completely believable as a professional chef in every way – from how his character Carl folds towels at the beginning of the film, to how he cleans up his food truck. Choi even made Favreau work in his kitchens, doing menial and monotonous tasks, such as sorting parsley. This was necessary to teach Favreau to focus on the smallest details, to understand how a professional chef thinks, who needs to always remain focused and attentive to every little thing, regardless of the circumstances.
