- After completing the underwater filming for Guillermo del Toro's 2017 science fiction drama 'The Shape of Water,' Sally Hawkins (who played Mary Brown in Paul King's film) flew from Toronto, Canada, to London for filming, where she learned that she would also have underwater scenes there.
- English writer and screenwriter Michael Bond (1926-2017), the creator of Paddington Bear, passed away six months before the film's release.
- The address where the world's most polite bear lives—32 Windsor Gardens in Notting Hill—does not actually exist. Author Michael Bond invented it by 'mixing' his parents' address, Winser Drive, with his own, Arundel Gardens.
