Short description

Following a series of drug deals and murders, three criminals -- Fantasia, Ray Malcolm and Pluto -- travel from Los Angeles to Houston, finally arriving in a small Arkansas town to go into hiding. Two detectives from the LAPD, who are already on the case, contact the town's sheriff, Dale Dixon, to alert him of the fugitives' presence in the area. Underestimating Dixon, the criminals have no idea what they are about to face.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The film was originally planned for a direct-to-video release, but the distributor, I.R.S. Records, decided to release it in theaters, where it ultimately flopped.
  • Sinda Williams landed the role of Lila Walker through deception, telling director Carl Franklin that she wanted to interview him and managing to secure a lunch date at a restaurant. Once at the table, she began acting out one of the scenes—which also took place in a restaurant—even shouting and swearing as her character would. Franklin did not appreciate being tricked, but he gave the role to Williams nonetheless.
  • The poster depicts a scene that does not appear in the film: a man on a highway shooting a police officer. In the movie, it was a woman who shot the officer, and it did not happen anywhere near the city in Arkansas, as the text on the poster suggested.
