Short description

We follow 24 hours in the life of a being moving from life to life like a cold and solitary assassin moving from hit to hit. In each of these interwoven lives, the being possesses an entirely distinct identity: sometimes a man, sometimes a woman, sometimes youthful, sometimes old. By turns murderer, beggar, company chairman, monstrous creature, worker, family man.

What's left behind the scenes

Édith Scob, who plays the driver named Céline, starred in the French horror classic "Eyes Without a Face" (1959) directed by Georges Franju. The mask that Céline puts on at the end of Carax's film is a direct nod to Franju's movie.
In one of his incarnations, Lavant's character appeared as an underground monster from Carax's previous work, "Merde" (part of the film "Tokyo!", 2008).
Leos Carax wrote the role of the supermodel with Kate Moss in mind. They had previously wanted to collaborate on another project, but it didn't work out. As it happened, at the start of filming, Moss was preparing for her wedding and turned down the role, which ultimately went to Eva Mendes.
Leos Carax offered the role of Oscar's past lover to his ex-girlfriend, Juliette Binoche. According to Carax, they never quite got along. He then rewrote the role, making the character a singer, and Kylie Minogue accepted the part after being recommended to Carax by director Claire Denis.
