Short description
After a personal tragedy, Sarah joins her friends on a caving expedition in the Appalachian Mountains. But when a rockfall traps them deep underground, their adventure turns into a nightmare. As they search for a way out, the group discovers they are not alone—lurking in the darkness are savage, cave-dwelling creatures. With rising tension and dwindling trust, the women must fight to survive against both the predators and each other.
What's left behind the scenes
- Despite the film being set in North America, filming took place entirely in the United Kingdom from December 6, 2004, to February 5, 2005. Outdoor scenes were shot in Scotland, and the cave itself was constructed on a set in the Pinewood Studios stages near London. The filmmakers believed that filming in a natural cave would put the actors in unnecessary danger and take much longer.
- All the actors underwent special training at a climbing center in Derbyshire, England.
- 30 additional extras were used during the filming of the hospital scene.
