Shi spoke with the actress's agent and stated that she no longer needed Barrymore, but the agent pleaded with Shi to give her one more chance. The subsequent auditions were held right at Shi's home, and Barrymore passed them successfully, unaware that Shi's words to her agent had been a simple ruse.
