Short description

Director and screenwriter Sean Baker initially intended to cast Dakota Johnson with her grandmother Tippi Hedren, but ultimately chose Drew Hemingway and Besidka Johnson instead.
Executive producer Tsou Shih-ching found Besidka Johnson (who played Sadie). They met in the locker room of a gym that both attended. Johnson had dreamed of an acting career since the age of 15, and at 70 years old, her dream came true. The role of Sadie became the first and last of her life.
