Short description

A teen learns that his birth mother is a mermaid after he begins to grow fins and slimy scales on his thirteenth birthday.

What's left behind the scenes

During the filming of the final shot, in which Cody, having transformed into an amphibian man, leaps out of the water, Chez Starbuck held onto a cable and was pulled out of the water. Filming took place in a studio pool, with three scuba divers in the water with Starbuck.
Chase Starbak was cast in the lead role despite a complete lack of acting experience, and a mentor was assigned to him for the duration of the filming.
Kristen Stewart's first on-screen appearance (she was not mentioned in the credits). Her mother, Jules Mann-Stewart, worked on the screenplay for this TV movie.
During the auditions, Chez Starbuck (who played the main character, Cody Griffin) had to demonstrate his own swimming skills.
