Short description
A travelling theatre company has more to it than meets the eye. It is an imaginary world commanded by the mind of Doctor Parnassus and the audience is in for more than just a show.
What's left behind the scenes
- In the scene with Johnny Depp, boats carrying portraits of people float down the river—Princess Diana, James Dean, and Rudolph Valentino. All three were idols of their generations who died young.
- Following the death of lead actor Heath Ledger, the production crew found themselves in a difficult position: some of the material had already been filmed, but it wasn't enough. A solution was soon reached: in the plot, Tony passes through Doctor Parnassus's magic mirror, and from that point on, his appearance changes—Tony would be played by three different actors (Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell, and Jude Law).
