Short description

In a world connected by YouTube, iTunes, and Facebook, Lola and her friends navigate the peer pressures of high school romance and friendship while dodging their sometimes overbearing and confused parents. When Lola's mom, Anne, "accidentally" reads her teenage daughter's racy journal, she realizes just how wide their communication gap has grown.

The film takes place in Chicago (but was actually filmed in Detroit), and near Kyle's apartment, a group of RenCen mansions is shown, which are located in Detroit.
Tish Cyrus – Miley Cyrus' mother, who played the main role in the film – also joined the producers of 'The Last Summer'.
Lisa Azuelos is also the director and screenwriter of the original film ('LOL', 2008). It was a French movie starring Sophie Marceau. Azuelos filmed it after realizing that in her native France, there were virtually no films based on the lives of teenagers. She often noticed her daughter going to the cinema to watch either a movie about American teens or a horror film.
