Short description

While scouting for filming locations, the filmmakers spotted Caleb Enoku going about his business and cast him in the role of Patie.

According to screenwriter Robert Benjamins, the idea came to him during a trip when, while at the airport, he noticed a foreign family looking at him askance. He jokingly thought that they intended to kidnap and eat him. While waiting for his flight, he sketched out the general outline of the film's screenplay.
To show a close-up of the main character's amputated leg, they filmed a real person with an amputated leg.
All the actors playing Finns are from Australia and New Zealand, and they learned their lines in Finnish by ear.
