Short description

In the 1930s, three friends—a doctor, a nurse, and an attorney—witness a murder, become suspects themselves and uncover one of the most outrageous plots in American history.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The film is based on the story of a 1933 political conspiracy against US President Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1882-1945) with the aim of replacing him with a dictator. In 1934, retired General Smedley Darlington Butler (1881-1940) publicly declared the existence of the conspiracy.
  • The image Christian Bale created on screen bore a strong resemblance to Lieutenant Columbo from the eponymous franchise starring Peter Falk (1927-2011).
  • On set, Christian Bale did not interact with Chris Rock. He later explained that looking at Rock made it difficult to suppress laughter, which made it difficult to play his character.
  • Michael B. Jordan was initially cast in one of the roles, and filming was scheduled to begin in April 2020. Due to the Covid pandemic and related restrictions, the start of filming had to be postponed for almost a year, and Michael B. Jordan left the project, being replaced by John David Washington.
  • According to Margot Robbie, on the final day of filming, director David O. Russell for some reason failed to call "Cut!", and the shoot continued past the period for which they had official permission, resulting in the police having to intervene and put an end to the filming.
