Short description
When five ragtag freshman first meet in detention, it seems they have nothing in common. But, through music, they form an unbreakable bond and discover they have the makings of the greatest high school garage band in history! In the face of incredible odds, Olivia, Stella, Wen, Mohini and Charlie find they can make a real difference when they learn to lean on each other and let go of everything holding back their dreams.
What's left behind the scenes
- Hailee Steinfeld had her hair cut six times to achieve the desired effect.
- At the beginning of the film, all characters except Mo wear something orange or purple. Mo is shown in blue, as is her friend. As the plot develops, Mo gradually begins to wear purple and orange. These are two opposite colors that complement each other. The director applied this same idea to the group.
- Marc Peter Hughes, whose book the film is based on, played the person in the bee costume behind Director Brannigan.
- Michael, who played the role of Charlie Blake, was 14 years old at the time of filming.
- Hailey Kiyoko had her hair cut six times before achieving the desired effect.
