Short description
Lucy is eleven years old. Having been neglected by her estranged mother and father, she is placed in a children's home. Through her eyes, we follow her struggle to cope with the system; her only saving being her self-belief and certainty that she is being watched over and protected by the holy spirit.
What's left behind the scenes
- To a certain extent, the script is based on the memories of director and screenwriter Samantha Morton regarding the years she spent in children's homes in the UK.
- Samantha Morton specifically wanted to make the film for television. As a child, she also couldn't always afford a movie ticket, and a TV movie allows a young audience to watch for free at home.
