Short description
A dog finds the meaning of his own existence through the lives of the humans he meets.
What's left behind the scenes
- The film features, among others, Max and Duke. These are the names of two dogs living in a New York apartment. The same names were used for the dogs in the 'The Secret Life of Pets' animated franchise.
- In the first film of the 'A Dog's Purpose' franchise (Lasse Hallström, 2017), Dennis Quaid, playing Ethan, wore brown contact lenses. In this sequel, he performs without them, as his natural eye color is blue.
- In the first film of the franchise, Ethan's wife (Hanna was played by Peggy Lipton) had a pregnant daughter and a grandson. In this picture, the viewer learns about her son (who passed away before the events described in the film) and a granddaughter. The characters from the first film are hardly mentioned, although Ethan tells Hanna at one point that she 'raised two children,' which can be understood as a reference to the daughter mentioned in the first film.
