Short description

Referred as the actual first Mickey Mouse short. Inspired by Lindbergh's flight from New York to Paris, Mickey builds a plane to take Minnie for a trip.

What's left behind the scenes

This cartoon is the very first short film in which Mickey Mouse appears. The film premiered at the Hollywood Theatre on May 15, 1928.
The soundtrack was only added to the visuals on December 29, 1929.
During the production of the cartoon, animator Ub Iwerks locked himself in his office and drew over 700 sketches for the film per day.
Walt Disney produced the cartoon in secret, as he was under contract with Universal Studios at the time to produce shorts about the adventures of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.
