Short description
Obsessive scientist Nathan and his lover, the naturalist Lila, discover Puff: a man born and raised in the wild. As Nathan trains the wild man in the civilized ways of the world, Lila fights to preserve the man’s natural state. In the power struggle that ensues, an unusual love triangle emerges.
What's left behind the scenes
- Many of the forest scenes are allusions to (or reconstructions of scenes from) the music video for Björk's song “Human Behaviour” (1993), which was also directed by Michel Gondry.
- Impressed by the success of the 1999 film "Being John Malkovich", the studio initially wanted Spike Jonze to direct the film. He considered the offer, but chose to participate as a producer and suggested Michel Gondry as the director.
- Patricia Arquette couldn't sit during breaks between takes because fur was glued to her body. While filming near Los Angeles, she encountered poison sumac and received a burn, and she had to film nude. At least once during filming in the forest, access to the set was not blocked for some reason, and she was seen by hikers who came across the naked actress.
