Short description
An undercover cop in a not-too-distant future becomes involved with a dangerous new drug and begins to lose his own identity as a result.

- Philip K. Dick dedicated the eponymous novel to his deceased and gravely ill drug-addicted friends, as evidenced by the credits at the end of the film.
- One of the script versions was written by Charlie Kaufman. However, his screenplay was rejected during one of the project's development stages.
