- The film was produced for the cable channel Lifetime, known for its overly dramatic, female-oriented programming. Comedians Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig filmed their parts in secret, deciding that it would be an unusual and amusing experience for them, while screenwriter Andrew Steele, a colleague of the actors from the sketch show Saturday Night Live, called his own script bad and added that the channel's producers failed to realize that the entire project was intended as a satire.
