Seasoned musician Jackson Maine discovers — and falls in love with — struggling artist Ally. She has just about given up on her dream to make it big as a singer — until Jack coaxes her into the spotlight. But even as Ally's career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Jack fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons.
What's left behind the scenes
- Producers really wanted Beyoncé to play the role of Ally. In 2015, she initially agreed to participate in the film, but ultimately decided to focus on her music career. Bradley Cooper then tasked Camille Blackett with rewriting the script, who immediately stated that Beyoncé had too few lines. According to Blackett, the original script differed significantly from the final version.
- Bradley Cooper had to apply self-tanning paint to his body every day and menthol to the skin around his eyes to make them look inflamed. Lady Gaga, for her part, managed with ordinary lip balm and moisturizer.
