What's left behind the scenes

  • The trailer states that producer Joe Roth created "Maleficent" (2014) and "Alice in Wonderland" (2010), films from Disney, while "Snow White and the Huntsman 2" is a project from Universal Pictures. All of these are feature films based on fairy tales.
  • The warrior character Sara, played by Jessica Chastain, is mentioned in 'Snow White and the Huntsman,' where she is referred to as the huntsman's late wife.
  • Lead actor Chris Hemsworth gained fame playing the Norse god Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. Emily Blunt's character is named Freya (another name from the Norse pantheon).
  • The first trailer for the film features the song "Castle" by Halsey.

A contract was signed with Darabont, however, the film was ultimately directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, with Darabont simply contributing to the screenplay. Nicolas-Troyan worked on the special effects and was the second unit director on the set of "Snow White and the Huntsman" (2012).
