Cobb, a skilled thief who commits corporate espionage by infiltrating the subconscious of his targets is offered a chance to regain his old life as payment for a task considered to be impossible: "inception", the implantation of another person's idea into a target's subconscious.
What's left behind the scenes
- James Franco entered negotiations with Christopher Nolan for a role in the film. However, due to scheduling conflicts, he was unable to join the cast. The role intended for Franco was played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
- Inception is the third Nolan film in which a bag is placed over the head of a character played by Cillian Murphy.
- Phonetically, “Cobb” means “dream” (khwab) in Sanskrit, Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi. In the film, Cobb dreamed of returning home.
