- In one scene, Tommy, played by Mark Wahlberg, mentions Father Flavin, and this reference is never explained. He is referring to Boston priest Jim Flavin, who in 1987 came across Wahlberg dealing drugs on the street and managed to set him on the right path. After that, Father Flavin became a good friend and mentor to Wahlberg.
