Short description
In the not so distant future, Theodore, a lonely writer, purchases a newly developed operating system designed to meet the user's every need. To Theodore's surprise, a romantic relationship develops between him and his operating system. This unconventional love story blends science fiction and romance in a sweet tale that explores the nature of love and the ways that technology isolates and connects us all.
What's left behind the scenes
- The scenes in the apartment were filmed on location. Cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema ordered all the windows around the 33rd-floor apartment to be replaced and mirrors to be installed on the helipad of the skyscraper across the street. This allowed more sunlight to enter the apartment where filming was taking place.
- Amy Adams said that Spike Jonze would lock her and Joaquin Phoenix in a room for one or two hours every other day, forcing them to talk to each other. Jonze did this to help the actors get to know each other better. Adams noted that thanks to this, she and Phoenix became good friends.
