Short description
During a summer of friendship and adventure, one boy becomes a part of the gang, nine boys become a team and their leader becomes a legend by confronting the terrifying mystery beyond the right field wall.
What's left behind the scenes
- Director and screenwriter David M. Evans told Tom Gairy and Mike Vitar (who played Scotty Smalls and Benny, respectively) to get to know each other and start rehearsing several weeks before the other young actors arrived on set. Everyone else truly believed that the two had been friends for a long time. After filming ended, Gairy and Vitar remained friends.
- During the filming of the chase scene, it was so hot that Tom Gairy suffered from overheating and fainted.
- It was hot for almost the entire filming period, but on the day the pool scene had to be shot, the weather turned sharply cold, and the water temperature dropped to 13 degrees Celsius. One can notice that the kids in the scene are shivering from the cold and chattering their teeth.
- The fake vomit was made from a mixture of pea soup, baked beans, oatmeal, water, and hair gel. The chewing tobacco used by the characters was made from dried beef and licorice.
- A mastiff belonging to director and screenwriter David M. Evans appeared in the film.
