What's left behind the scenes

  • Jamie Lee Curtis (who played Tess Coleman) contacted Disney management herself and offered to make a sequel to the film. She also convinced Lindsay Lohan to star in the sequel, with whom she befriended during the filming of the 2003 film.
  • Jodie Foster was offered the chance to reprise her role as the character she previously played in Gary Nelson's comedy "Freaky Friday" (1976), but she was committed to filming Rebecca Zlotowski's "Private Life" (2025).
  • Costume designer Natalie O'Brien located Jamie Lee Curtis's silk dress from the previous film on the online auction site eBay, where it was purchased and refitted to the actress's figure.
  • In one scene, the character smears blue icing on her face, a reference to Mel Gibson's character in the historical drama "Braveheart," which Gibson directed in 1995.
